    Household Tips

    List of Ingredients

    * Place a slice of apple in hardened brown sugar to soften it back up.
    * When boiling corn on the cob, add a pinch of sugar to help bring out the
    corn's natural sweetness.
    * To determine whether an egg is fresh, immerse it in a pan of cool, salted
water. If it sinks, it's fresh; if it rises to the surface, throw it away.
    * To cure a headache, cut a lime in half and rub it on your forehead. The
    throbbing will go away.
If not, sprinkle some salt on top of the lime juice, lick with your
tongue, and chase with a shot of Tequila.
    * Don't throw out that leftover wine. Freeze it in ice cube trays for use in
    sauces and casseroles.
    * Potatoes will take stains off of your fingers. Just slice and rub the raw potato on your fingers, and rinse.
    * To get rid of the itch from a mosquito bite, rub the effected area with soap
    for instant relief.
    * To get rid of ants, draw a chalk line wherever they tend to congregate or
march. Ants won't cross a chalk line.
    * Use air freshener to clean mirrors. It does a good job and leaves a nice
    smell, too.
    * When you get a splinter, reach for the Scotch tape instead of the tweezers.
Scotch tape removes most splinters painlessly and easily.
    * To clean your toilet, drop two Alka-Seltzer tablets in the water, wait twenty
    minutes and then scrub.
    * To clean a vase or carafe, fill with water and use two Alka-Seltzer tablets.
    * To polish jewelry, use two Alka-Seltzer tablets, put the jewelry in and
    immerse for two minutes.
    * To unclog a drain, use three Alka-Seltzer tablets followed by a cup of white
vinegar. Wait a few minutes and then run hot water.
    * Flush yeast down your toilets once a month to help with the breakdown of waste.
    * Clean glass coffee carafes with several ice cubes, a squeeze of fresh lemon and about 1 T salt. Swish vigorously, rinse, then wash in hot soapy water and rinse well. It will sparkle.
*To release stuck jar lids on new food jars: Invert jar and carefully slam down onto countertop once.
