    2 sticks (1 c.) butter or margarine
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. + 2 T. flour
    ½ c. buttermilk
    1 c. water
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    3 eggs
    1 Tablespoon (not teaspoon) vanilla

    Frosting:
    1 stick (1/2 c.) butter or margarine
    1 lb. powdered sugar
    4 Tablespoons buttermilk
    1 Tablespoon vanilla
    1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

    Recipe



    Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla until light. Stir in buttermilk Combine all dry ingredients and add to mixture. Add water last and mix until well blended. Batter will be thin. Pour into a greased and floured 15x10 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Cool slightly and frost. Frosting: Bring oleo and buttermilk to a boil. Remove from heat and add sugar, vanilla and nuts. Beat until creamy and spread over warm cake.
