    Hamburger Salad Sandwiches

    Source of Recipe

    JoAnna M. Lund

    Recipe Introduction

Gail Jordan, Phoenix, AZ, sent me her healthy version of a salad that was very popular in the 1950's. This so good, be prepared to share the recipe with everyone who enjoys these tasty sandwiches.
    Serves 6

    List of Ingredients

    • 16 ounces ground 90% lean turkey or beef
    • 1/2 cup chopped onion
    • 1/4 teaspoon dried minced garlic
    • 1/2 cup Kraft fat-free mayonnaise
    • 1/4 cup dill pickle relish
    • 2 tablespoons prepared mustard
    • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1 cup peeled and chopped fresh tomatoes
    • 6 lettuce leaves
    • 6 reduced-calorie hamburger buns

    Instructions

    1. In a large skillet sprayed with butter-flavored cooking spray, brown meat and onion. Stir in garlic. Place skillet on a wire rack and allow to cool completely. Stir in mayonnaise, pickle relish, mustard, and black pepper. Add tomatoes. Mix gently to combine. For each sandwich, place a lettuce leaf on bottom of a bun, spoon about 1/2 cup meat mixture over lettuce, and arrange bun top over meat mixture.
