    Recipe Introduction

Irish Stew is traditionally made with lamb, but can also be made with beef.

    List of Ingredients

2 pounds beef stewing meat, cut into 1-inch cubes
    Flour, salt and pepper
    1/3 cup oil for frying
    1 can (14oz) chicken broth
    1 teaspoon marjoram
    1 teaspoon dried parsley
    1/2 teaspoon thyme leaves
    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and fresh ground pepper to your taste
3 to 4 cups white potatoes, peeled and cubed
4 carrots, sliced (about 2 cups)
1 large onion, halved and then sliced

    Recipe

Dredge the stew meat with flour, salt and pepper. Brown meat in about 1/3 cup oil in hot skillet; drain well. In crockpot combine broth, marjoram, parsley, thyme, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Add browned stew meat and sliced onions. Cook on high 3 to 4 hours. Add carrots and potatoes and cook about 2 hours until vegetables are tender.
