    Chewy Bars

I found this recipe quite by accident one day on a box of Jiffy Golden Yellow Cake Mix. They are a quick dessert to whip up for unexpected company.

    List of Ingredients

    • 1 pkg. (9oz.) Jiffy Golden Yellow Cake Mix
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1 Tblsp. butter
    • 1 Tblsp. corn syrup
    • 1/3 cup chocolate chips
    • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (I use pecans)
    • 1 egg
    • 1 Tblsp. water
    • 2 Tblsp. flour

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
    2. Grease an 8x8x2 inch pan
    3. In a small bowl, blend together all ingredients.
    4. Spread into the prepared pan.
    5. Bake 25-30 minutes. Do not overbake! I stop at 25 min.
    6. Cool and cut into bars.
    7. Make about 2 dozen squares.

    Final Comments

These bars travel well to pitch-ins. I had never brought home any left-overs. The recipe can be doubled using a 9x13 pan.
