    1. Melt 1 stick of butter and 2 squares unsweetened chocolate in a saucepan.
    2. Put the melted chocolate mixture in a mixing bowl. Beat in 1 cup sugar, 2 eggs, and 1/2 teaspoon
    vanilla.
    3. Add 1/4 cup of flour and a pinch of salt. (Add nuts if desired.)
    4. Bake the brownies in a buttered and floured 8-inch-square pan at 325 degrees F for about 40 minutes. Let cool and cut into squares.
