Dumplings, steamed
1 1/2 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons shortening
3/4 cup milk
Cut in the shortening.
Stir in the milk, do not over mix.
Drop 1/4 cup of dough unto top of meat or vegetables in a simmering stew. Do not drop into liquid.
Cook uncovered 10 minutes.
Cover and cook another 10 minutes. Do not lift cover.
Great on stews, chicken fricassee, anything with sauerkraut.
