    Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is possibly the original recipe. It’s been around for many years, since I was a small child, and is still my favorite. It makes a crisp cookie.

    1 cup butter
    3/4 cup brown sugar
    3/4 cup granulated sugar
    2 eggs, beaten
    1 teaspoon soda
    1 teaspoon hot water
    2 1/4 cups flour
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 cup nuts, finely chopped
    12 ounces chocolate chips
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Preheat oven to 375 F
Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy
    Add eggs and mix well.
    Add vanilla
Dissolve soda in the hot water and add
Stir in flour and salt, you will probably want to use your hands.
    Mix in chocolate chips.

Chill dough overnight. Roll rounded teaspoon of dough between palms of hands.
Place 2 inches apart on baking sheet.
    Press to flatten.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
