    Pecan Pizza Coffee Cake

    The crust.
    1/2 cup whole bran cereal, coarsely crushed
    1/4 cup granulated sugar
    1 tablespoon dry yeast
    1/2 cup very warm water
    1 egg
    1 1/2 cup flour
    1 tablespoon oil
    1/2 teaspoon salt.

    The topping.
    1 cup chopped pecans
    1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
    1/4 cup maple-flavored syrup
    2 tablespoon butter
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    Combine cereal, sugar, and yeast. Stir in water. Let stand 5 minutes, until yeast is softened. Add egg, 1/2 cup flour, oil, and salt. Beat at low speed until blended. Beat at high speed scraping bowl. Stir in remaining flour. Knead 1 minute.
    Place in greased bowl and allow to rise until double.

    In a saucepan combine pecans, brown sugar, syrup, butter and cinnamon. Cook and stir over low heat just until sugar dissolves. Do not boil. Set aside.

    Preheat oven to 400°F
    Punch dough down. With floured hands press dough into a greased 12 inch round pizza pan, forming a high edge. Crimp edge; spread pecan mixture to within 1 inch of edge. Place pizza pan on a baking sheet to bake.
    Bake about 20 minutes.
