    Swedish Meat Balls

These are also very good in a mushroom wine sauce. That is how I serve them for a party appitizer. Either way they are great for in a chafing dish.

1 cup fine dry bread crumbs, divided
    1 pound ground round steak
    1/2 pound ground pork
    1/2 cup mashed potatoes
    1 egg, beaten
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
    1/4 teaspoon allspice
    1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
    1/8 teaspoon ground ginger.
    3 tablespoons butter
    1 beef bullion cube
    1 cup water
    2 tablespoons flour
    1 cup cream

Lightly mix 1/2 cup bread crumbs, the meat, potatoes, egg, salt, brown sugar and all the spices.
Shape into 1 inch balls and roll in the remaining bread crumbs. Brown in the butter. Remove from pan as they brown and set aside.
When all are browned, in the skillet, blend 1 tablespoon flour, stir for one minute. Add water and bullion cube. Heat until cube dissolves and mixture bubbles. Stirring constantly, add 1 cup cream. Return the meat balls to the skillet and cover. Simmer 30 minutes.
Serve over mashed potatoes or rice.
