    Tourtières

    List of Ingredients

    1 pound ground beef
    1 pound ground pork
    1 small onion, chopped
    1 clove garlic
    1 teaspoon ground cloves
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon pepper
    ½ cup boiling water
    pastry for 2 double-crust pies
    cream





    Recipe

    Combine meat, onion, garlic, spices. salt and pepper. Add boiling water and, stirring constantly, cook slowly until meat loses pink color. Line 2 pie plates with pastry and fill with meated mixture. Cover with top crusts, seal edges and puncture to release steam. Brush tops with cream and bake in a 450ºF oven for 30 minutes. Serve piping hot or refrigerate until ready to reheat.

    NOTE - Tourtières acquire more flavour when reheated.
