    TEXAS CHOCOLATE SHEET CAKE

    Recipe Introduction

    This is a family favorite and one of the very best cakes I've ever made!

    List of Ingredients

    CAKE:
    2 cups flour
    2 cups sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 cube margarine
    1/2 cup Crisco
    1 cup water
    3 tbls. cocoa
    2 eggs, beaten
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 cup sour cream
    1 tsp. vanilla

    FROSTING:
    1 cube margarine
    3 tbls. cocoa
    6 tbls. canned evaporated milk
    1 box powdered sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 cup chopped walnuts

    Recipe

    Preheat oven to 350º.
    CAKE:
    Combine flour, sugar and salt in large bowl. Heat margarine, Crisco, cocoa and water in saucepan and bring to a boil; remove from heat and pour over the flour mixture, mix well. Beat together the eggs, soda, sour cream and vanilla---add to first mixture and mix thoroughly. Pour into well-greased sheet pan (18" x 111/2").
    Bake for 20-25 minutes, or, until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean.
    FROSTING:
    Put margarine, cocoa and milk in saucepan and place over medium heat until margaine is melted; add powdered sugar, vanilla and nuts, beat until well blended. Pour over cake soon after it is removed from the oven and still hot.
    Let cake cool thoroughly before serving.
