    White Cake Icing

    List of Ingredients


    • 3-3/4 cups sugar
    • 1-1/8 cups water
    • 6 T. light Karo syrup
    • 4 egg whites
    • 1-1/2 T. vanilla flavoring


    Instructions


    1. In saucepan, stir ingredients and bring to boil and turn heat down to medium. Cook until "fine thread stage, when poured from spoon it forms a fine thread".

    2. In mixer, beat 4 large egg whites until stiff. Slowly pour syrup over whites while beating. Beat well. Add vanilla and beat well.

    3. Recipe frosts 3 9" layers.

    4. For coconut cake, cover frosting with angel flake coconut. Place marachino cherries on top around cake.
