    Glazed Fruitcake Squares (Don't let the name scare you)

    List of Ingredients

    This bar cookie is not what you expect. If you don't like fruitcake, and it's not because of the fruit...you just might like these. The bar is more like a coffeecake type texture than that of fruitcake with it's rich, dark texture.

    2 cups powdered sugar
    1/2 cups margarine or butter, softened
    1/4 cup orange juice
    1 teaspoon brandy extract
    2 eggs
    2 cups All-Purpose flour
    1 tablespoon baking powder
    1 teaspoon salt
    2 cups chopped candied fruit
    1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

    Glaze:
    1 cup powdered suagr
    2 tablespoons water
    1/2 teaspoon brandy extract

    Recipe

    Heat oven to 375º.

    Grease a 15x10 inch jelly-roll pan; set aside.

    In a small dish mix together orange juice and brandy extract; set aside.

    In a large bowl, combine powdered sugar, margarine, brandy and eggs; mix well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. By hand stir in remaining ingredients; press into prepared pan.

    Bake for 15-20 minutes or until light golden brown.

    While bars are cooling prepare glaze. Mix all glaze ingredients together and drizzle over top.

    Makes 48 bars.
