Apple-Date Crisp

6 cups apples -- peeled and thinly
--sliced (about 6 medium, preferably
-- Golden Delicious)
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/3 cup dates -- chopped
1 1/3 cups uncooked quick oats
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup light brown sugar -- packed
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon salt
dash ground nutmeg
dash ground cloves (optional)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter -- melted
Coat crockpot or slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray. Place apples in medium bowl. Sprinkle with lemon juice; toss to coat. Add dates and mix well. Transfer to crockpot or slow cooker.
For topping: combine oats, flour sugar, cinnamon, ginger, salt, nutmeg and cloves, if desired, in medium bowl. Drizzle with melted butter and toss to coat. Sprinkle oat mixture over apples. Cover; cook on low about 4 hours or on high about 2 hours or until apples are tender.
