    This is a standard butter cake and is great for any occassion. Frost with any flavor of frosting you desire.

    List of Ingredients




    1 Cup Shortening
    2 Cups Sugar
    4 Eggs
    1 1/2 Teaspoons Vanilla
    1 Cup Milk
    3 Cups Sifted Cake Flour
    3 Teaspoons Baking Powder
    1/2 Teaspoon Salt

    Recipe



    Cream shortening and sugar together until fluffy. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Add flavoring. Add milk and 2 cups of flour alternately, beating until smooth. Fold in remaining cup of flour sifted with baking powder and salt. Bake in 3 well-greased 8 inch layer cake pans 25 to 30 minutes at 375 degrees. This batter may be baked as cup cakes or in a jelly roll pan for a large sheet of cake at same temperature.
