    Grandma always made sure we had one of these cakes on Thanksgiving day. Use the chocolate frosting recipe located here on this site for a real dream cake.

    List of Ingredients




    2 Cups Sugar
    2 Eggs
    1 Cup Butter
    2 Cups Buttermilk
    2 Teaspoons Soda
    3 Cups Sifted Flour
    4 Tablespoons Cocoa
    2 Teaspoons Vanilla

    Recipe



    Cream the butter then add sugar and beat well. Add beaten eggs. Dissolve soda and cocoa in buttermilk and add to first mixture. Gradually stir in flour then add flavoring. Bake in three layers at 350 degrees until very lightly golden. Check with a straw to make sure the layers are done in the center.
