    Source of Recipe

    Recipe Introduction

Here it is! My all time favorite cake. I can eat fruit cakes year round and never get tired of them, especially when they're homemade. Try this recipe and you'll never eat another store bought fruit cake!

    List of Ingredients

    3/4 Pounds Mixed Fruit
1/2 Pound Red And Green Cherries
1/2 Pound Red And Green Pineapple
    1 Slice Plain Pineapple
    1/4 Pound Black Walnuts
    1/2 Pound Seeded Raisins
    1/4 Pound Pecans
    1/2 Pound Dates
1/4 Cup Flour (Sift Flour Over Fruit)
    BATTER:
    1 Cup Shortening
    1/2 Cup Sugar
    1/2 Cup Honey
    5 Well Beaten Eggs
    1 1/2 Cups Flour
    1 Teaspoon Salt
    1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
    1 Teaspoon Allspice
    1/2 Teaspoon Nutmeg
    1/2 Teaspoon Cloves
    6 Tablespoons Grape Juice

    Recipe

Cream shortening and sugar, add beaten eggs. Add the flour, beat well alternately with grape juice and honey. Pour mixture over floured fruit and nuts, mix well. Bake in oven at 250 degrees for about 2 1/2 to 3 hours or until straw test shows that it is done, (Straw test is done by inserting a broom straw into the batter and when it comes bake clean, the batter is done). Place pan with 2 cups of water in oven to keep cake moist while cooking.
