    Recipe Introduction

Mince meat pie is a great dessert to include with your Christmas or Thanksgiving meal. This is a true old-fashion pie recipe (1950's).

    List of Ingredients

    1 Pound Raisins
    1/2 Pound Currants
    1/2 Pound Citron
    1/2 Pound Chopped Suet
    1 Pound Brown Sugar
    1 1/2 Cups Cooked Meat
    1/2 Cup Sweet Cider
    1 Tablespoon Plain Malt Extract
    1/4 Lemon
    1/4 Cup Molasses
    1/4 Cup Water
    1/2 Tablespoon Mace
    1/2 Tablespoon Allspice
    1/4 Tablespoon Cloves
    1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
    2 Teaspoons Salt
    1/4 Orange
    3/8 Peck Apples

    Recipe

Chop the fruit very fine. Add the malt extract to heated molasses. Mix well. Add all the other liquids and mix well. Combine with fruit. Add the chopped meat and suet. Add the brown sugar and spices. Stir well and place over a slow heat. Cook until soft, about one hour. Bake 2 pie crusts, line pie tin with crust, turn in mince meat. Cover with top crust and bake in moderate oven at 325 degrees until rich brown.
