    Red velvet cake is great to serve at parties or for just about any occasion. This one is loved by young and old alike.

    List of Ingredients




    1/2 Cup Butter
    1 1/2 Cups Sugar
    1 Teaspoon Vinegar
    1/2 Bottle Red Food Coloring
    1 Cup Buttermilk
    1 Teaspoon Soda
    1 Teaspoon Vanilla
    2 Eggs, Well Beaten
    2 Tablespoons Cocoa
    2 1/2 Cups Flour
    ICING:
    1 Cup Milk
    1 Cup Flour
    1/2 Cup Shortening
    1/2 Cup Butter
    1 Cup Sugar

    Recipe



    Cream together butter and sugar. Add vinegar, food coloring, buttermilk, soda, vanilla, eggs, cocoa and flour and blend well. Pour into 2 layer pans and bake in 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes. While cake is in oven prepare icing. Mix together milk and flour. Be sure there are no lumps. Put on the stove and cook until thick. Cool in icebox until cold. After mixture is cool add shortening, butter and sugar. Beat with electric beater until real creamy. After cake is cool, spread icing on each layer and around all sides. You have just created the ultimate 2 layer cake.
