    Recipe Introduction

These pinwheels will delight young and old alike. A wonderful snack or serve as a party treat.

    List of Ingredients

    2 Cups Flour
    3 Teaspoons Baking Powder
    1 Teaspoon Salt
    1/3 Cup Shortening
    3/4 Cup Milk
    FILLING:
    1/2 Cup Sugar
    2 Teaspoons Cinnamon
    2 Tablespoons Butter

    Recipe

Sift flour, baking powder and salt into bowl. Cut in shortening until the mixture looks like coarse corn meal. Remove 1 cup of this mixture to a small bowl; blend with milk to form a paste (do not try to smooth). Add paste to shortening and mix just enough to hold dough together. Transfer dough to board which has been dusted with flour. Knead lightly. Roll dough to oblong shape about 10 x 18 inches. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixture and dot with butter. Roll lengthwise in same manner as a jelly roll and seal tightly. Cut slices; place on cookie sheet which has been rubbed with shortening. Bake in hot 425 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Yields about 16 medium pinwheels.
