Sally's Coffee Cake

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup shortening -- (I use butter)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 cups buttermilk
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
4 tablespoons melted butter

Mix flour, sugar and shortening until crumbly. Reserve 1/2 c. for topping.

Stir in baking soda, baking powder and buttermilk.

Put in two greased 9" square pans.

Topping: To the 1/2 c. reserved crumb mixture add 1/2 c. sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon. Sprinkle on cake and drizzle 4 tbsp. melted butter over top.

Bake at 350F approximately 30 minutes.
