    Southern Hush Puppies

    2 cups cornmeal
    ½ cup all-purpose flour
    2 TBS. sugar
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    ½ tsp.baking soda
    1 egg, beaten
    ¾ cup milk
    ¾ cup cream style corn
    oil for deep frying

    Combine first 6 ingredients in a bowl; add egg, milk and corn. Stir just until moistened. In a deep fryer, heat oil to 375º Drop by teaspoonfuls into hot oil. Fry till golden brown.Drain on paper towels serve hot.

    **note**
    Have oil at the right temperature. If oil is to hot,food will cook fast on the outside and not in the center.
    If oil is not hot enough,food will absorb oil and be greasy.
