    Granny's Pot Pie- Taste of home

    1½ lbs. ground beef
    1 tsp. onion powder
    salt & pepper to taste
    1 cup dieced potatoes
    1 cup frozen mixed vegetables, thawed
    ¼ cup butter
    ¼ cup all- purpose flour
    1- 14oz. can beef broth
    Crust:
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 Tbs baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    ¼ cup shortning
    ¾ cup milk
    1 Tbs. butter melted

    1. In a skillet cook meat until no longer pink.drain;
    stir in onion powder and salt.

    2.Transfer to a greased 9in. square baking dish.Top with potatoes and vegetables.

    3. In a skillet,melt the butter.Stir in the flour until smooth; gradually add broth. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes,or until thickened. Pour over vegetables.

    4. for crust, combine flour,baking powder,and salt in a bowl. Cut in shortning,until mixture resembles course crumbs.Stir in milk till soft dough forms.

    5. on a floured surface,roll dough into a 9 inch square
    Place over filling. flute edges and cut slits in top.Brush with butter.Bake at 350º for 45 minutes or till golden brown.

    Yield; 6 servings
