    Aunt Jenny's Baked Beans

    List of Ingredients


    • 10 cups water
    • 2 cups dried navy beans
    • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    • 1/2 cup molasses
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
    • 1 medium onion, chopped
    • 3 cups water


    Instructions


    1. Heat oven to 350. Heat 10 cups of water and the beans to boiling in the dutch oven. Boil uncovered 2 minutes. Mix in remaining ingredients except 3 cups of water. Cover and bake 4 hours, stirring occasionally. Stir in 3 cups of water. Baked uncovered 2 hours longer, stirring occasionally, until beans are tender and of desired consistency. Makes 10 miserly servings (about 1/2 cup each) or 5 generous ones.
