    Katie's Beef Stroganoff

    Recipe Introduction

    This is a delicious version of one of my favorite dishes. Serve with buttered noodles and your best salad.

    List of Ingredients

    1 lb. sirloin
    1 T. tomato paste
    1 pack Lipton Onion Soup Mix
    ¼ c. red wine
    1 – 10 ½ oz. can beef broth
    1 c. sour cream
    1 clove garlic, minced
    3 oz. sliced mushrooms
    Flour/salt/butter

    Recipe

    Cut meat into ¼” strips. Combine 1 T. flour and ½ t. salt. Coat meat with flour mixture. Heat skillet, add 2 T. butter; when melted add the meat and brown quickly on both sides. Add mushrooms, onion soup mix and garlic and cook 3-4 minutes or until onion is crisp –tender. Remove meat and mushrooms from pan and keep warm.

    Add 2 T. butter to pan drippings. Blend in 3 T. flour. Add 1 T. tomato paste. Stir in 1 ½ c. cold beef stock or one 10 ½ oz. can condensed beef broth. Return meat to pan. Stir in sour cream and wine. Cook slowly until heated through (DO NOT BOIL).

    (My dad’s (John) note to the recipe says: “Serve John more than anyone else”.)
