Recipe Introduction
This makes a wonderful Christmas gift. I put it in decorative glass bottles and tied tags onto the necks of the bottles. It is great 'straight up', but I think it would be good with sparkling water, tonic, etc. I added a little lime juice to my mix and made a kind of Cosmo Liqueur! Really good!
This must be begun 3 weeks ahead of the time you want to use/give it. This liqueur will last for one year, refrigerated or at room temperature.
List of Ingredients
2 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 (12 oz.) pkg. fresh cranberries
3 c. vodka
Recipe
Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan; cook over medium heat 5 minutes or until sugar dissolves, stirring constantly. Remove form heat, and cool completely.
Place cranberries in a food processor; process 2 minutes or until finely chopped. Combine sugar mixture and cranberries in a large bowl; stir in vodka.
Pour the vodka mixture into clean jars; secure with lids. Let stand 3 weeks in a coo, dark place, shaking every other day.
Strain the cranberry mixture through a cheesecloth-lined sieve into a bowl, and discard solids. Carefully pour liqueur into clean bottles or jars.
Yield: 4 ½ c.
