Ruhlman’s VTR Whiskey Sour

Recipe Introduction
This is Michael’s version of the whiskey sour from the Velvet Tango Room in Cleveland. I’m not a big whiskey fan, but Mike liked it quite well. You can halve or multiply this recipe for different amounts of drinkers.
List of Ingredients
1 large egg white
1 T. sugar dissolved in 1 T. water
2 T. lemon juice
2 t. lime juice
3 oz. Maker’s Mark or bourbon of your choice
Ice cubes
Orange slices and cherries for garnish (traditional, but optional)
Recipe
Chill two martini glasses.
Put the egg white into a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously 20-30 times. Add the sugar water, citrus juices and bourbon and shake again until very well mixed. Fill the shaker with ice and shake gently to chill. Strain into the martini glasses and garnish, if you wish.
Serves 2.
