Recipe Introduction
This makes wonderful toast and GREAT French toast! Also - NO KNEADING! And just one rising. This is almost quick bread!
List of Ingredients
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 6 c. unsifted flour
- 1 T. sugar
- 2 t. salt
- 2 c. skim milk
- 1/4 t. baking soda
- 1/2 c. water
- cornmeal
Instructions
- Combine 3 c. flour, yeast, sugar, salt and soda. Heat liquids to 120 degrees. Add hot liquids to dry ingredients. Beat well. Stir in rest of the flour. Mix well.
- Grease and sprinkle two loaf pans with cornmeal. Divide the dough between the two pans. Sprinkle tops with additional cornmeal. Cover and let rise 45 minutes.
- Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Lower temperature to 350 degrees and bake for 20 - 25 minutes. Remove from pans and place on oven rack for an additional 5 minutes to crisp crust.
