Jessica made this for Thanksgiving morning. It was incredibly good, easy and made a beautiful dish. I thought that the dish would have worked a bit better if the eggs and cream had been mixed and slightly scrambled before adding to the mixture that goes into the bread. It was a bit ‘wet’.
List of Ingredients
1 long baguette
5 large eggs
1/3 cup heavy cream or whole milk
4 oz cooked bacon bits
4 oz cheese
2 green onions thinly sliced
Recipe
Heat oven to 350F.
In a medium bowl, mix eggs, cream, bacon, cheese, and onions [this is where I’d slightly scramble the eggs and cream and mix gently with the rest].
Cut a long rectangle through the top of the baguette and remove some of the bread – leaving a good bit of bread and crust on the bottom [go here to see a video of this step: https://www.facebook.com/buzzfeedtasty/videos/1679970002255642/?hc_location=ufi] Spoon the egg mixture into the baguette.
Bake for 25 minutes. Cut and serve while still warm.
Serves 8-10.
