This is a wonderful and fairly easy to prepare dessert. You will get LOTS of compliments on it!
List of Ingredients
- PASTRY:
- 6 T. sugar
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- 10 oz. butter, cold and cubed
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 t. vanilla
- 5 t. water
- FILLING:
- 3 oz. dark brown sugar
- 3 oz. light brown sugar
- pinch of salt
- 2 1/2 oz. butter, melted, browned
- 1/4 c. light corn syrup
- 2 eggs
- 1 T. hazelnut syrup
- 1 1/2 t. vanilla
- 1 c. macadamia nuts
Instructions
- TO MAKE PASTRY: Mix sugar, flour and butter together until mixture resembles cornmeal. Add egg yolks, vanilla and water just until mixture comes together. Do not overmix.
- Roll out to ¼” thickness and cut with four inch mold. Press crust into sprayed tart tins, but do not bake until filled.
- TO MAKE FILLING: Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
- Combine sugars, salt and butter in mixer. Add corn syrup, eggs, hazelnut syrup and vanilla extract. Transfer to a double boiler and stir continuously until temperature reaches 130 degrees. Remove from stove and cool. Pour into pastry lined tart tins and add seven macadamia nuts to each tin. Bake for 25 –30 minutes.
Final Comments
Makes 4 tarts
Serve warm with ice cream (Haagen Daaz dulche de leche is WONDERFUL)
