    Cracker Candy

    Source of Recipe

    Cecilie Hamilton Dyke

    Recipe Introduction

I tried these for the first time at Christmas and they are so amazingly good. I was so surprised that the base was crackers - you would never guess! Thanks to Cecilie for sending me the recipe!

    List of Ingredients

    1 1/2 (about)sleeves saltines (salted)
    1 c. brown sugar
    2 sticks butter (unsalted)
1 package of milk choc. chips (I prefer the semi sweet Ghiradelli chips)
    Chopped nuts

    Recipe

Line a half sheet pan with non-stick foil (preferred) or parchment paper. Line the cookie sheet with saltines.

In a sauce pan, melt butter and brown sugar and slow boil for 3.5 min. Pour over crackers immediately and evenly and place in a 350 preheated over for 12 min, until slightly brown.

Let cool 2 min and then spread chips on the sheet pan. I then stick back in the oven for like 30 sec, pull back out and spread with spatula. Sprinkle with chopped nuts. Let cool, place in refrigerator. Take out of pan, and break into pieces. Store.

Cecilie's Note: I've used this with graham crackers also...I've also used white choc and dark choc and kind of swirled instead of spread and that was pretty. Enjoy!
