    Source of Recipe

    Alton Brown

    Recipe Introduction

These are just a good, basic cooky!

    List of Ingredients

    • 2 sticks sweet butter
    • 2 1/4 c. bread flour
    • 1 t. kosher salt
    • 1 t. baking soda
    • 1/4 c. sugar
    • 1 1.4 c. brown sugar
    • 1 egg
    • 1 egg yolk
    • 2 T. milk
    • 1 1/2 t. vanilla
    • 2 c. semisweet chocolate chips

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
    2. Melt the butter. Sift together the flour, salt and baking soda and set aside.
    3. Pour the melted butter into the mixer's work bowl. Add the sugars. Cream the butter and sugar mixture on medium speed. Add the egg, the egg yolk, milk and vanilla extract and mix until well combined. Slowly incorporate the flour mixture until thoroughly combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
    4. Chill the dough, then scoop out dough in a #20 ice cream scooper onto parchment-lined baking sheets, 6 cookies per sheet. Bake for 14 minutes or until golden brown, checking the cookies after 5 minutes. Rotate the baking sheet for even browning. Cool completely and store in an airtight container.

    Final Comments

Makes about 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
