Lauri’s Ham w/ Brown Sugar
Source of Recipe
My SIL, Lauri made this for Christmas dinner 2019.
Recipe Introduction
The smallest ham we could find wouldn’t fit in our largest crock pot, so I cooked it covered in the oven at 225F. I could also have used the Nesco. I would like to try it in a slow cooker, so next time I may ask to borrow Lauri’s. Even in the oven it was still very good – moist and tender. I think it is the first time I’ve ever cooked a ham without putting Co’Cola in the pan! A nice touch is to torch the ham when it is done to give it a sheen.

8 lb spiral cut ham
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup pure maple syrup do not use artificially flavored pancake syrup
1 cup pineapple juice
cooking spray
Recipe
Rub the ham all over with the brown sugar. Coat a 7-8 qt. slow cooker with cooking spray and put the ham in the crock cut side down.
Pour the maple syrup and the pineapple juice over the ham.
Cook on low heat for 3-4 hours, or until the ham reaches 140F in the thickest part.
Remove the ham from the crock and tent with foil. Pour the liquid from the crock into a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook until thickened – about 8 minutes.
Use the liquid as a sauce to serve with the ham.
