This is so easy and good. You can vary it by using different dried fruits (just stick with 2 cups and chop up any large pieces). and also by substituting apple juice or cider for 2 of the cups of water. I have also used fat free evaporated milk in place of the half and half and it worked just fine. Use those crock pot liners for ease of clean up. This will save and reheat in a microwave very well.

1 cup steel cut oats
1 cup dried cranberries
1 cup dried figs
4 cups water
1/2 cup half-and-half
Recipe
In a slow cooker, combine all ingredients and set to low heat. Cover and let cook for 8 to 9 hours.
Stir and remove to serving bowls. This method works best if started before you go to bed. This way your oatmeal will be finished by morning.
