Granny Smith Apple and Cranberry Galette

    Source of Recipe

Martin E. Gravely - Cooking Class at Sur La Table

    Recipe Introduction

This was delicious! Very easy and uncomplicated, but very, very good. He said that you could make it with different fruits - pears, peaches, etc.

    List of Ingredients

    Nonstick spray
1 sheet of puff pastry (1/2 of a 17.3 oz. pkg.)
    1/3 c. walnuts
    1/3 c. brown sugar
    ½ t. cinnamon
2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
    Juice of ½ lemon
    1/3 c. dried cranberries
1 T. cold butter, cut into 4 pieces
    Pinch of salt

    Recipe

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Spray a sheet pan with non-stick cooking spray or cover it with a Silpat.

Place the sheet of puff pastry on the prepared sheet pan. Fold the edges in ½ “ on all sides.

In a food processor, pulse the walnuts, cinnamon, and brown sugar just until roughly ground. Toss the apple slices with the lemon juice. Sprinkle ½ of the walnut mixture on the pasty and layer the apples on the tart (keeping them off of the folded edges). Spread the cranberries over the apples.

Add the butter pieces to the processor with the remaining half of the nut mixture and process briefly to incorporate. Spread the mixture on top of the fruit, sprinkle with salt, and bake for 20-25 minutes.

    Yields six servings.
