Doughnut Bread Pudding

- 9 glazed doughnuts (or frozen ones), day old
- 2 large eggs plus 2 egg yolks
- ½ c. + 1 T. sugar
- 1 t. vanilla
- ½ t. salt
- ½ t. cinnamon
- ¼ t. nutmeg
- 3 c. whole milk
Instructions
- Butter a 2-qt. baking dish and set aside.
- Cut doughnuts into eighths and spread evenly in baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together remaining ingredients and pour over doughnuts. Let rest 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Make a water bath for the pudding by placing the baking dish in a shallow, oven proof pan. Fill oven proof pan with warm water and place in oven.
- Bake 70 – 75 minutes; center should be firm.
Final Comments
Serves 8.
Serve warm or cold (warm is better). I sprinkled the top with cinnamon sugar before baking.
