Cheese and Ham Biscuits

Recipe Introduction
I confess that while I read the magazine for laughs, I do occasionally find a decent recipe or idea that I can adapt. These were supposed to be made with Gouda, which I didn’t have, so I made them with Cheddar instead. I think that an aged Gouda would be very good. I have a couple of similar recipes, but thought I’d include this one anyway. I should have added a pinch of cayenne, but didn’t think of it until they were in the oven. I did brush them with an egg wash and that improved the color, I think.
List of Ingredients
2 1/4 c. Bisquick
1/2 c. shredded cheese
1/2 c. chopped ham
1 T. minced chives
1/4 t. pepper
2/3 c. milk
Recipe
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl, mix the first 5 ingredients. Add the milk and mix only until everything is incorporated – don’t overmix. Using a 3 tablespoon disher, scoop biscuit dough onto the baking sheet, placing them just barely touching. Flatten slightly with your fingers and brush with egg wash, if you like. Bake for about 10 minutes, until golden.
Makes 8 biscuits.
