    Everything French Dip Sliders

    Source of Recipe

Adapted from Jeff Mauro, Food Network

    Recipe Introduction

Jeff Mauro made something similar to this for “The Kitchen” Mother’s Day show 2016. I didn’t think it was terribly appropriate for Mother’s Day, but liked the basic idea. I decided to turn it into a French dip with caramelized onions and muenster cheese. This recipe has a few steps including caramelizing the onions and making the ‘Everything’ butter, but everything is dead easy. I served this with a ‘jus’ of Better than Bouillon beef broth and a little Bisto. Before dipping, a strong horseradish sauce added to each sandwich is delicious!

    List of Ingredients

6 T. butter, plus additional for buttering pan
    1/2 T. poppy seeds
    1/2 T. toasted sesame seeds
    1 t. dried minced garlic
    2 t. dried minced onion
    1/2 t. kosher salt
2 large sweet onions, sliced and caramelized
    1 package Hawaiian sweet rolls
1 lb. thinly sliced rare deli roast beef
    6-8 slices Muenster cheese
    ‘JUS’:
    2 1/2 c. water
    2 1/2 t. Beef Better than Bouillon
    1 t. dried parsley
    1/2 t. garlic powder
    1 – 2 t. Bisto granules

    Recipe

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking pan with foil and butter the bottom liberally.

Make the ‘Everything butter’: Add the 6 T. butter and the next 5 ingredients to a bowl and microwave to melt the butter.

Without separating the rolls, slice the bread horizontally all the way across, creating one top and one bottom. Place the bottom in the buttered pan. Place the roast beef evenly on top of this layer, then the caramelized onions and the cheese. Put the top section of the rolls on top and press down slightly. Brush evenly with the ‘Everything butter’. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese has melted and the rolls are golden. Cut into sliders with a serrated knife.

‘JUS’: Heat water in a small sauce pan with the Better than Bouillon, parsley and garlic powder. When it comes to a simmer, add the Bisto granules and stir until dissolved. You want the Bisto to just add a little body to the jus – not to really thicken it. You may only need 1 t.

    Makes 12 sliders.
