Recipe Introduction
Jessica made this for Mike's birthday in 2013. They were absolutely delicious. I had a hard time finding the bread - not one grocery store in our area had the right loaf. Then I thought to check with Jason's Deli since they serve muffulettas. They were happy to sell me just the loaves. We had some olive salad from Central Grocery in New Orleans that our friends Lena and Bill brought us. There are lots of online recipes for "Central Grocery Olive Salad" if you would rather make it than order it. If you do make it yourself, make sure that you prepare it at least a couple of days ahead of time, so that the flavors have time to develop. This sandwich can sit around a little while. Feel free to make them an hour ahead of time. I've even had leftovers the next day that were great.

1 10-inch round loaf Italian bread with Sesame seeds
Olive salad
1/4 lb Genoa Salami
1/4 lb Hot Capicola [I used regular - not hot]
1/4 lb Mortadella
1/8 lb Sliced Mozzarella
1/8 lb Provolone [Aged is best]
Recipe
Cut the bread in half lengthwise. Brush both sides with the oil from the olive salad. Go little heavier on the bottom.
Layer half of the salami on the bottom half of the loaf. Add the mortadella, the mozzarella, the capicola, the provolone and the rest of the salami. Top with the olive salad [be generous]. Place the other half of the loaf on top and press firmly. Slice into quarters.
Serves 2-4.
