Zippy Ham and Cheese Crescents

Pillsbury Crescent Idea Cookbook
Recipe Introduction
These little roll up sandwiches are really pretty good. While recipe calls for ham and American cheese, I have made them with havarti or swiss and they are always good. You could vary the meat, also - or even leave it out completely. Gotta love that name, though..."Zippy"...can you tell that this booklet was published in 1975?
List of Ingredients
- 1 T. poppy seeds
- 1/4 c. minced onion
- 2 T. catsup
- 2 T. mustard
- 1/4 c. butter - melted
- 8 oz. can Pillsbury Crescent rolls
- 2 slices American cheese - each cut into fourths
- 8 thin slices ham
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- In small bowl combine first 4 ingredients and 3 T. butter (reserve 1 T.). Separate crescent dough into 4 rectangles; firmly press perforations to seal. Cut each rectagle in half to form eight 4x4" squares, stretching dough if necessary.
- Spread each square with the butter mixture. Place cheese square in center; top with ham slice. Roll up tightly, pressing edges to seal. Place seam side down in an ungreased 8 or 9" square pan. Spread with reserved T. of butter and sprinkle with additional poppyseeds. Bake 22 - 28 minutes until golden brown.
