    Zippy Ham and Cheese Crescents

    Source of Recipe

    Pillsbury Crescent Idea Cookbook

    Recipe Introduction

These little roll up sandwiches are really pretty good. While recipe calls for ham and American cheese, I have made them with havarti or swiss and they are always good. You could vary the meat, also - or even leave it out completely. Gotta love that name, though..."Zippy"...can you tell that this booklet was published in 1975?

    List of Ingredients

    • 1 T. poppy seeds
    • 1/4 c. minced onion
    • 2 T. catsup
    • 2 T. mustard
    • 1/4 c. butter - melted
    • 8 oz. can Pillsbury Crescent rolls
    • 2 slices American cheese - each cut into fourths
    • 8 thin slices ham

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
    2. In small bowl combine first 4 ingredients and 3 T. butter (reserve 1 T.). Separate crescent dough into 4 rectangles; firmly press perforations to seal. Cut each rectagle in half to form eight 4x4" squares, stretching dough if necessary.
    3. Spread each square with the butter mixture. Place cheese square in center; top with ham slice. Roll up tightly, pressing edges to seal. Place seam side down in an ungreased 8 or 9" square pan. Spread with reserved T. of butter and sprinkle with additional poppyseeds. Bake 22 - 28 minutes until golden brown.
