    Bourbon Syrup for Sweet Potatoes

    Source of Recipe

    my own

    Recipe Introduction

Our family tradition is that Sweet Potatoes have bourbon in them. I thought for years that I didn't like sweet potatoes. Turns out, I don't like bourbon! That, and my dislike of okra prove that, even though I was raised in the South, to my eternal shame ;-) I was actually born in Washington, DC! To work out this problem so that all the TRUE Southerners can have their bourbon and so that I can still have my beloved sweet potatoes, I came up with this idea. I just make a bourbon sugar syrup, just like a regular sugar syrup that you would make for tea, but with bourbon instead of water. Great solution

    List of Ingredients

    bourbon
    sugar

    Recipe

Mix 1 part bourbon to 2 parts sugar in a heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil and boil until the sugar dissolves.

    Keep in the refrigerator.
