Fresh Tomato Sauce

Recipe Introduction
This is a wonderful July/August sauce for when tomatoes are at their juicy, luscious best. If you live in VA and can get Hanover tomatoes - Heaven!!
List of Ingredients
- 2 T. oil
- 1/2 c. finely chopped onion
- 1 T. minced garlic
- 2 c. peeled, seeded, chopped tomatoes
- bay leaf
- 1/2 t. dried thyme
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 T. butter
- 1/4 c. chopped fresh basil
Instructions
- Saute onion and garlic in oil until soft. Add all ingredients except butter and basil and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Swirl in butter and add basil until butter melts.
