    Stephanie’s Chai Crunch

    Source of Recipe

    Our friend, Stephanie Burdett

    Recipe Introduction

Sweet, but not overly so, this is an incredibly addictive play on Chex Mix! No one flavor is too ‘forward’ – there is just a wonderful mélange of tastes. Stephanie says that you can change up the cereals and I thought that Golden Grahams would be a good substitute for the Corn Chex.

    List of Ingredients

    1/2 c. butter
    1/2 c. honey
3 T. instant nonfat dry milk or plain non-dairy creamer
    1/2 t. ground cardamom
    1/2 t. ground ginger
    1/2 t. ground cinnamon
    1/2 t. ground nutmeg
    1/2 t. ground cloves
    1/2 t. dried orange peel
    2 t. vanilla extract
    3 c. Corn Chex cereal
    3 c. Wheat Chex cereal
    3 c. Honey Nut Cheerios
    1 c. dried banana slices
    1 1/2 c. sliced almonds

    Recipe

Heat oven to 300 degrees. Melt butter in a 1-quart saucepan over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in honey, dry milk, spices, orange peel and vanilla. Mix well.

In a 15x11-inch roasting pan with high sides, mix remaining ingredients. Pour butter mixture over cereal mixture and toss to coat well. Bake for 45 – 60 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes – until golden brown. Pour mixture out onto parchment paper and cool. Store tightly covered.
