    Unsweetened Chocolate Frosting

    Recipe Introduction

    This is a good, basic buttercream made with unsweetened chocolate. I had the Baker's so I used that, but it would be better with a better quality chocolate. Do not refrigerate this frosting - it gets very stiff.

    List of Ingredients

    4 oz. unsweetened chocolate
    16 oz. 10X
    1 stick butter, softened
    2 t. vanilla
    1/3 c. milk

    Recipe

    Melt the chocolate and transfer to mixer bowl. Cool to room temperature, about 5 minutes. Add the 10X and mix well. Add the butter and vanilla; mix on low until well blended. Gradually add the milk beating until smooth.

    Makes enough frosting to cover top and sides of 2 (8 or 9 inch) cake layers; top and sides of a 13x9 inch cake; tops of 3 (8 or 9 inch) layers; or 18 - 24 cupcakes.
