Recipe Introduction
These are the best stewed/scalloped tomatoes I have ever tasted - and I don't even LIKE stew tomatoes. My husband agrees! Try these - even leftover, they are amazing!
List of Ingredients
- 2 14 oz. cans tomato wedges
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1/4 t. pepper
- 1/8 t. salt
- 1/4 t. dried basil
- 1 t. brown sugar
- 1 c. soft bread cubes
- 1/4 c. soft bread crumbs
- 2 T. butter
- 1 piece of toast, trim crusts and cut into triangles
- 1 T. parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 10"x6" baking dish.
- Combine the first 7 ingredients. Pour into prepared dish. Top w/ bread crumbs. Cook for 35 minites. Top w/ toast points and cheese. Cook for additional 15 minutes.
Final Comments
I used Splenda and Sugar Twin brown sugar substitute in this and they were wonderful!
Serves 6.
