    This was her grandmother's recipe from Germany


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 stick soften butter
    • 1/2 cup shortening
    • 3 cups sugar
    • 3 eggs
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • pinch of salt
    • 1 tsp baking soda mixed into 1/3 cup buttermilk
    • 6 cups AP flour


    Instructions


    1. Cream butter and shortening with the sugar. Mix well.
    2. Add eggs one at a time and continue to mix until well blended.
    3. Add buttermilk mixture and vanilla.
    4. Add flour one cup at a time until well incorporated.
    5. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill 30 minutes
    6. Roll out with rolling pin. I roll between 2 sheets of parchment paper. Cut with biscuit cutter and place on cookie sheet
    7. Bake at 375 for 9 minutes. Makes approximately 3 dozen.
