    Basic Pizza Dough

    List of Ingredients

    • 2 packages active dry yeast
    • 1-1/2 cups warm water (105-110 degrees)
    • 3-3/4 cups flour (may use more or less)
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon sugar

    Instructions

    1. In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Stir in oil, half of the flour, salt and sugar; mix well. Stir in enough of the remaining flour to make dough easy to handle.

    2. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead about 10 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, and turn, greased side up. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 20 minutes.

    3. Punch down dough. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, but no longer than 48 hours, punching down dough as necessary.

    4. Roll or toss dough out to the right size and bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes for a thin crust pizza or 55 minutes for a thick crust pizza.

    5. After the pizza dough is cooked it may be wrapped and frozen for later use.
