    Homemade Macaroni & Cheese


    List of Ingredients


    • 3 Tablespoons butter, melted
    • 1/2 small onion, diced
    • 3 Tablespoons flour
    • 3 cups milk
    • 1/2 pound Velveeta cubed
    • Cooked macaroni
    • 1 cup bread crumbs, optional


    Instructions


    1. Melt butter in a large pan; add diced onions and cook until tender. Add flour and cook for 2-3 minutes longer. To the onion, flour mixture add all the milk at once and bring to a slow boil. Let cook for 5 minutes or until the mixture starts to thicken, be sure to stir occassionally to prevent sticking and burning. While that is cooking cube up the cheese.
    2. Place cooked noodles in a 9-in. x 13-in. baking dish and spread the cubed cheese over it. Pour the milk mixture over top and stir until all combined.
    3. Place pan in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Top with bread crumbs if desired the last 15 minutes.
