    Recipe Introduction

I first made this Dec26/02 for the Hancharuk Family Brunch that Barry and I have. This was also the first year that we had the hockey game on the lake. Lots of fun for everyone. I also made this for Jenna's wedding party for their breakfast on the big day.

    List of Ingredients

    • 1/2 cup butter
    • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
    • 2 Tblsp corn syrup
    • 1 loaf of Italian or French Bread
    • 5 large eggs
    • 1 1/2 cups half and half (I have used whole milk)
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 1 tsp Grand Marnier
    • 1/4 tsp salt

    Instructions

    1. Melt butter with brown sugar and corn syrup over moderate heat, stirring until smooth. Pour into a 9 x 13 pan.

    2. Cut 6 one inch slices of bread and trim crusts.
    3. Arrange slices in a single layer, squeezing them slightly to fit.
    4. In a bowl whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, Grand Marnier amd salt until well combined.
    5. Pour evenly over bread, chill, covered 8 hours.
    6. Bring to room temperature. Bake at 350 uncovered until puffed and golden. Approx 35-40 min.

    Final Comments

Very good hot out of the oven. Not as good once it has cooled for too long.
